| On Sunday 9 fevas & 11 teras launched into a very flat river Crouch for the 1st combined BSC feva & tera open regatta, drifting downtide on a weak easterly breeze to their race officer & commodore John Hardy who set them on a windward / leeward course in front of the clubhouse. Race one saw a dying breeze just get the fleets round the course with Diane Roberts and Robin Saunders winning the fevas and Joshua Aldridge winning in the tera fleet in a very trying race which rewarded those who could concentrate for the longest or who just happened to be on the right part of the course when the puffs came. Race 2 was started and then canned when the wind died totally and the fleets were sent back to the clubhouse for early lunch and to wait for the wind .... which unexpectedly turned through 90 degrees and came from the west! No rest for mark layer Nick as he very quickly relayed the course the other way round and a rapid relaunch resulted in the re run of race 2 followed by races 3 and 4 straight afterwards.

Excellent standards of sailing on the now fresh wind saw the larger, more experienced crews come to the front whilst some struggled to stay upright keeping the ribs busy, but all ended the day with tired smiles on red faces. Races 3 & 4 saw a guest appearance when Nick jumped in Zacs tera and gave his son a run for his money (not bad for an adult!) before retiring with a broken outhaul and blaming the kit!!. Well done Nick.
