| four young Burnham sailors travelled to Norfolk on saturday to compete on wroxham broad, the home of the norfolk broads yacht club.the conditions were difficult with a very light breeze settling in for a while only to die completely and then return several times each race but the clubs race officer made the best of a trying day and managed four races, 2 before and 2 after lunch. Kathryn, Chay & tom all had good races in the gold fleet with Chay getting a 1st in race 3 but none could get near the eventual winner wroxham sailor Emily King, closly followed by otter member Tom Johnson from norfolk with Chay 3rd in the final standings.Kathryn Hutton Penman finished 8th with Tom Jaysekrea in 11th overall, well done to all. Matt Jaysekera had a good outing in the regatta fleet, sailing on the same challenging course as the gold fleet, scoring one first and finishing 2nd overall, well done Matt. Stirling now knows how stressful parents feel when watching the racing as he had to sit out after an unfortunate fall broke his arm 2 weeks ago, despite which he did make a useful shore crew. just a mention for the parents who had the hard task of transporting boats and sailors to norfolk, tough day in the sun eh! thanks to all at nbyc for their usual splendid hospitality and a lovely day out for all. richard |
