Part-Time River Patrol Officer
Crouch Harbour
Authority is seeking a Part-time River Patrol Officer to assist in managing
navigational and recreational activity on Rivers Crouch and Roach.
Hours:
Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from Easter to Late October. 6 – 8 hours
daily depending on tides. Occasional additional hours as required.
You will patrol
the river using the authority’s 5.20m RIB and/or 27’ patrol launch to ensure
that speed limits and regulations/byelaws are observed, harbour dues paid and
good, considerate boating behaviour is maintained, especially in relation to
Water skiing boats and Personal Watercraft (PWC).
Also to assist
as available for other harbour work such as oil spill control, removal of
obstructions etc.
You will be
required to work afloat without direct supervision and to represent the harbour
authority in direct contact with the public. Substantial experience of boating
and practical boat handling is essential, preferably with experience of
fast/planing craft. An understanding of sailing and yacht racing is
desirable. Experience in application
/enforcement of byelaws etc. and record keeping is very desirable. A pleasant, calm and polite demeanour is
essential.
Physical fitness
commensurate with operation of small open boats in estuarial conditions is
required.
Remuneration:
Hourly rate negotiable depending on experience.
