Minutes of the Previous Meeting held on Thursday 19th November 2009 were agreed.

3

Matters Arising from the above Meeting

Item 6: The Commodore has not yet written, as the relative’s address is proving difficult to find.

Item 9: The Notice of AGM has been drafted and issued with the December Newsletter.

Item 11: The programme is on our website. John Hardy is to send it to Edwin Buckley.

4

Land Purchase

The Commodore gave an up-date on this matter. The areas of land to be swapped have been agreed with the purchaser of the main part of the CEFAS site. We discussed this and agreed that the revised area is better for us. Contracts should be exchanged before Christmas.

5

Rebuilding

John Hardy gave us a detailed up-date on the negotiations with our insurers. An offer is expected from the insurers early next week. The Flag Officers and Trustees will then meet to decide the way forward. It was noted that one of the builders who had submitted a quotation, would be able to start in January. We thanked John for his sterling efforts to try to bring this matter to a satisfactory solution.

6

Fund Raising

Rosemary Prior up-dated us on the fund-raising for the extension to the Clubhouse. She emphasised that planning consent is essential, as some sources of funding require this before they will consider any applications for grants.

Fund-raising events include a Music Night at Wreakin Farm (March/April), an Inner Wheel Bridge day in aid of the Club, and a Promises Auction (September). Other ideas were a 6-a-side football contest, a boot sale and a sponsored drama event.

Rosemary then gave us figures on loans and donations, either pledged or received. We had received £1,000 from the Burnham Carnival.

7

Nominations for Club Officers

We discussed possible candidates for the vacancies.

The December Newsletter asks for nominations for the vacancies, and we will discuss this further at the next meeting (13th January).

8

Any Other Business

Rosemary Prior asked if the JCC Burnham Week Cocktail Party could be held in the Clubhouse on the Friday before the first Saturday. We agreed that this should pose no problem with the Friday evening training.

We also agreed that the Hunter 707 fleet could hold a social in the Clubhouse on the Thursday of Burnham Week.

Rosemary Prior reported on her discussions with Karen Sadler about subscriptions.

We discussed dinghy racing during Burnham Week.

David Pinkney asked if we wanted club diaries next year. If not the publishers will need to be told now. We agreed that as they are at no cost, we would continue. The Club History will need up-dating re the fire.

John Hardy asked if the Programme needs to be condensed, and we discussed this.

Date of Next Meeting WEDNESDAY 13TH January at 7.30pm in the Crouch Yacht Club
